Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent, a season of reflection that lasts for 40 days. Many people make it their tradition to give up something for Lent, and with that in mind, we’d like to give up the habit of focusing on the past and instead looking toward the future. Here are a few things we’re looking forward to as we continue to grow and evolve into an even more incredible city:
Expanding Jobs in the Tourism Industry
Festivals like Mardi Gras give the city an amazing opportunity to show visitors why New Orleans is a world-class destination. While we welcomed more than one million visitors throughout the two weeks of Mardi Gras, we also know there are plenty of opportunities in the future for residents to secure jobs and careers in the hospitality industry. Whether they take a class at The University of New Orleans or get the inside scoop from someone like Corey Bourgeois, the kitchen manager at Palace Café, people interested in hospitality have a very bright future in the city of New Orleans.
Working with a New Police Chief
Michael Harrison recently accepted the position as Superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department. We had the opportunity to speak with Chief Harrison about his new role and his plans for creating a safe environment for locals and visitors every day of the year. Watch these videos to learn a bit more about our new police chief.
Becoming Involved with Professional Organizations
In a city as influential as New Orleans, it comes as no surprise that there are dozens of professional organizations to join. Each one gives participants a chance to build meaningful connections, both professionally and personally. We talked about several organizations at length, including the Louisiana Restaurant Association and Greater New Orleans Hotel and Lodging Association – read about them here!
