The Meeting Rooms Manager is responsible for the management of all production related events in the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (MCCNO), and shall manage all day-to-day activities of the Production Department including, but not limited to; meeting room audio, meeting room lighting systems, as well as the supply of rental Audio/Visual equipment within the MCCNO and coordination of equipment use during scheduled events. This individual shall coordinate and supervise the installation of supplemental Sound, Lighting, Video, Rigging, and related equipment and interface with clients, contractors and in-house personnel, with a goal of maximizing client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage and supervise the Meeting Room Staff to ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with guidelines established by the MCCNO to minimize cost and ensure timely completion.
· Monitor all events held in the Convention Center relating to technical aspects.
· Coordinate and schedule Production Staff to ensure proper coverage of all event activities during move-ins, session rehearsals, live sessions, and move-outs.
· Ensure proper technical crew and temporary labor coverage, including the scheduling of ushers and oversee all temporary labor to ensure efficient and effective operations.
· Work with Meeting Room Supervisors to develop, assign and verify all meeting room job duties to Production Technicians.
· Monitor the work of external contractors to ensure the quality of work performed is in accordance with established standards and industry guidelines.
· Coordinate the cross rental of gear from external vendors.
· Advise Production personnel in the use of current technology to ensure optimal and efficient operations.
Professionally interface with clients and in-house personnel regarding technical requirements and requests.
· Act as a supportive liaison to other departments, vendors and clients.
· Assist the Director in providing consultations in the areas of staging, audio, A/V, lighting, and rigging.
· Meet with clients for planning meetings, site visits, and pre-cons and provide clients with all information relative to their technical needs.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all MCCNO departmental, administrative, operational, and safety procedures to assist clients.
Update safety methods and building rules and regulations to distribute information to all current and future clients.
Answer all inquiries/requests as they relate to the meeting room operations of the Production Department.
Communicate building policy updates to Productions staff.
Assist with processing bi-weekly time sheets by ensuring employee schedules are entered correctly in the time keeping system, allocating labor hours to events, and ensuring that time details are approved by the Director and submitted to People Services by established deadlines.
Prepare purchase quotes for necessary equipment and/or services using the correct financial coding required by budget guidelines.
· Order equipment as necessary and determined by available inventory.
Assist the Director in the ongoing development of the department’s rules and regulations with a goal of improving customer service and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and four to six years related experience and/or training within a convention, hotel and/or multi-purpose facility preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory role required.
