The Power of NOW – 2017 Recap

2017 was a year of accomplishment in our communities, thanks in large part to our new initiative, Power of NOW.

An offering of New Orleans Will and created by the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau, Power of NOW focuses on job creation, community outreach and skills training for hospitality and tourism.

We find that residents are often curious about the industry. They seek specific information about the kinds of jobs and opportunities available in the city. Through Power of NOW, we developed a series of career pathways to showcase jobs in a variety of industry sectors.

The career pathways include information on industry-related education and training programs. Industry advocates and NOCVB staff travel across the city to share the pathways and talk about ways to turn any job in the industry into a great career.

Community Outreach

Industry workers share their stories of success and serve as an inspiration to students and job seekers. During our Power of NOW events, speakers encourage guests to consider careers in the hospitality and tourism industry. Advocates also meet with students for workshops on practical skills and interview skills, along with tips on developing a successful career path.
